This is a reading site. There is no account to create, no contact form, no newsletter, and no login. We do not ask you for anything and there is nowhere on this site to give it.
What is collected automatically
This site is hosted on WordPress.com. Like effectively every website, the hosting platform records standard technical information when a page is served — IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the referring page. That is used for security, for keeping the site running, and for aggregate traffic statistics such as which pages get read. It is not used to build a profile of you, and we make no attempt to identify individual readers.
Cookies may be set by the hosting platform for those purposes. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work normally.
When you use a service line
The one point where information leaves your hands is the service line — the contractor phone connection offered on some pages. If you use it, you are passing your details to that third party in order to get service, and from that point their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy practices rather than ours. Ask them directly what they do with it.
Links to other sites
Where we link out to manufacturers, standards bodies or public data sources such as the NOAA storm records, those sites set their own terms and collect their own information. We have no control over what they do once you leave here.
Records held about you
Because the site collects nothing from you directly, there is no customer record, mailing list or enquiry history held here that could be returned or deleted on request. The technical logs described above sit with the hosting platform rather than with us, and are not tied to a named individual.
