Twenty-five and thirty-year architectural shingle from this era is at or past its rating now. That rating assumes adequate ventilation and ordinary weather — full sun exposure, a hot unventilated attic, or a history of hail all pull the real figure well below the number on the wrapper. Get the install date from the permit record before assuming you have time left.

This is most common in homes built roughly 1980 to 2000. The polybutylene and aluminum-wiring window, 150 amp panels, R-22 systems and first-cycle architectural shingle.
